Wan Li Mian Preserves Taiwan’s Traditional Sun-Dried Noodle Heritage

In Taiwan’s traditional food culture, noodles are more than just a daily staple — they represent family memories, local traditions, and the warmth of home. Originating from Yuanli Township in Miaoli, Wan Li Mian is a traditional Taiwanese noodle brand with over 60 years of history, dedicated to preserving the authentic craft of sun-dried noodle making.

Produced by Chung Hsing Noodle Factory, Wan Li Mian continues to follow traditional sun-drying methods instead of relying solely on modern machine drying. By allowing noodles to dry naturally under sunlight over an extended period of time, the noodles develop a firmer texture, natural elasticity, and a rich wheat aroma that many consumers associate with classic Taiwanese flavors.

According to the brand, the name “Wan Li” comes from an early phonetic translation of the indigenous Taokas language once spoken in the Yuanli area. Beyond manufacturing noodles, the company also hopes to preserve local culture and traditional craftsmanship through its products. The founding generation of Chung Hsing Noodle Factory believed that quality food should be safe and enjoyable enough to serve one’s own family, a philosophy that continues to guide the brand today.

Unlike mass-produced dried noodles, Wan Li Mian focuses on traditional production techniques and slow drying processes. The result is noodles with a clean flavor profile and satisfying texture that work well in a variety of dishes. The brand currently offers several noodle styles, including flat noodles, thin noodles, yellow noodles, vermicelli, and noodle threads, each suited for different Taiwanese and Asian recipes such as soup noodles, stir-fried noodles, and dry mixed noodles.

In addition to household packaging, Wan Li Mian has also introduced gift box collections and specialty packaging aimed at souvenir and seasonal gift markets. Through refined presentation and a strong connection to Taiwanese heritage, the brand hopes to bring traditional noodle culture to a wider international audience.

As consumers continue to value natural food production and authentic regional products, heritage Taiwanese food brands have gained growing attention both locally and overseas. With decades of noodle-making experience and a commitment to traditional sun-dried craftsmanship, Wan Li Mian continues to share the flavors and culture of Yuanli with consumers around the world through every bowl of noodles.
